Heated Debate

So today at breakfast, my family were enthusiastically discussing some political outbreak "Miss Bawani vs Sharifah Zohra Jabeen" that seemed to have caught heat and became a hot sensation on the internet.

Becoming rather curious, I switched on my laptop and logged on to my YouTube account to view this political debate.

For those of you who are unaware, this incident occurred at a local university in Malaysia (University Utara Malaysia -UUM) due to a particular president of 'Suara Wanita 1Malaysia or better known as SW1M) speaker Sharifah Zohra Jabeen. Video is posted below :

In view of the above video, we can see that the speaker is exchanging rather harsh words with a second-year university law student, 27 year old Miss Bawani.

This debate started sparking interest amongst youths in Malaysia when the main speaker started to make comparisons between her and the young student - stating that her education was that of a degree and Miss Bavani's was only at an O'Level stage.

What was supposed to be a healthy discussion turned even more sour when the speaker decided to make further comparisons while raising her voice and stating that animals also have problems, rather than answering the question that Miss Bavani had first proposed.

Although I think the most infamous quote in this 10 minute video was when the speaker intervened and took away the microphone whilst Miss Bavani was talking, and repeated herself 7 times to the second year law student to "Listen" whilst the audience cheered her on.

Not wanting to miss a beat, advertisers had then moved quickly and made up some witty signs in accordance to that popular statement.

Keep in mind, that this is the same audience that had applauded Miss Bavani when she stated her part of the debate.

After watching the video, all I can say is that I applaud Miss Bavani on her bravery for speaking out fearlessly and addressing her concerns on behalf of all Malaysians alike. It takes a lot of courage to go in front of your peers and stand your ground for your nation.

You are simply awe inspiring. And for that I commend you.
