MIA Flora Matte Lip Colour Review

It has been quite a year for foundations and lipsticks, and as such, we have now come to the tail end of 2024; but with a brand new launch of MIA, a local makeup brand that specifically designs its products suited for tropical countries.

So think of products that are long-lasting, non-transferable and are available for the masses at affordable prices. Sounds pretty great right? Plus it is also claimed that MIA is a great alternative to some of the popular lipstick shades from some higher end brands as well, so with that, we are eager to put it to the test to see if it lives up to its claims.

So considering that MIA's brand concept is #Beauty4ALL, we should also mention that this local beauty brand is Muslim Friendly (that is also legally compliant with certified manufacturing) and thus as mentioned above, offers high quality products at affordable prices. Additionally, looking at the scope of shade range of their products, it is also quite clear that they are making their products accessible to the everyone, with all ages and ethnicities considered which is great.

So Let's Talk Packaging

Now as you can see here, the packaging for MIA Flora is a tad bit different from the standard lipstick tube that we are used to. This collection mimics a cute little packet drink that is themed around flowers and butterflies. The packaging is quite convenient and the range has 7 lipstick shades in total plus 1 mascara as well.

So as mentioned above, MIA's products are claimed to be budget-friendly alternatives to some of the popular lipstick shades from high-end brands, so without further ado, let's put it to review.

Putting It To The Test

The Top 4 aspects to these lipsticks by MIA is that these are suppose to be long lasting, lightweight, transferproof and waterproof. The formulation is matte and our first impression of these is that yes, the formulation does live up to expectation.

Additionally, the consistency for the lipsticks are also quite pigmented, so a single swatch over the lips would do to get the desired effect, but you do have to give it a full 30 seconds to fully dry down because we did go over it when it is just applied on; but even so to our pleasant surprise, not much came off which was quite impressive. After the full dry down time, the formulation becomes non-transferable and seeing as how pigmented these lipsticks are, we were quite in awe of that aspect.

Shade Matching

Now we are going to select some of our favourite colors that we think comes close to the matching shades from the higher-end lipsticks on the market. We have pulled some options below, so let's see how the MIA Flora Matte Lip Colors compare.

So with the above being some of the shades that are going to be shown below (for reference, both lipsticks will be worn next to each other in one picture along with one full swatch of the MIA colors in the next) , we will be including the full name list here just in case as well.

As can be seen, the shades do indeed look quite similar with the higher end brands with either a cool and warm undertone factor in between for that slight tone difference; and with its formulation being pigmented yet lightweight, we have to say that the MIA Flora Matte Lip Color is able to last on the lips for quite a long while for wear.

Plus we also enjoy the fact that even though the formulation for this collection is matte, the consistency doesn't sink into the fine line of the lips or make the lips dry as well. It instead fares quite a comfortable wear.

All in all, these shades have indeed hit its mark, and with its colours being quite similar to the other brands, we have to say that what impressed us most was actually the longevity of the lipstick, the fact that it doesn't transfer and finally its strong the pigmentation too. It is a great lipstick to have in tropical weather indeed.

So with that, MIA Flora will be officially launching in November nationwide and will be available at over 1,000 KK Supermarkets and Petrol Mart Outlets across Malaysia. They will be retailing at RM15.90 each but KK Mart will be having them at a special price at RM9.90 only, so definitely don't forget to visit KK Supermarket to purchase MIA products to learn more.

In the meantime, for more details, you can find MIA on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Lemon8, Shopee, and Lazada under the handle MIA_Beauty4ALL too.
