Joico Defy Damage | Damage Prevention & Color Perfection

Yesterday we headed over to Color Bar by Full House Salon in Singapore to give a go at Joico's Defy Damage brand new hair treatment. This treatment was introduced quite recently in May and has a SmartRelease Technology within its formulation that is able to strengthen, protect and rebuild the hair back to its healthy strands in one sitting.

So when we arrived at Color Bar by Full House Salon, we were introduced to Joico's Defy Damage product range; one that came in a collective of 6 items in total. Now in terms to the Salon Exclusive, there are 2 in this category; one which is the Defy Damage Pro Series 1 that is a Bond-Protective Color Optimizer Spray and 2nd which is the Defy Damage ProSeries 2 which in turn is the collection's Bond-Strengthening Color Treatment.

• Defy Damage ProSeries 1:

• Ultra-dry bond protector that helps to instantly shield hair from chemical service damage, improve color deposit, and provide greater, more even lift when lightening.

• Defy Damage ProSeries 2:

• This is an intensive treatment that helps regenerate bonds and strengthen hair. It also protects the hair from mechanical, thermal and environmental damage.

As for the other 4 products, those are the ones that can be brought home for at home care and they are the Defy Damage Protective Shampoo, Defy Damage Protective Conditioner, Defy Damage Protective Masque and the Defy Damage Protective Shield.

• This product gives instant daily protection from damaging heat, UV and environmental exposure. It also makes the hair 4x more resistant to breakage during heat styling and protects against color fade.

Now we find this treatment to be pretty unique; mainly because not only can it be utilised during chemical services, but it also can be used alone to strengthen, smoothen and moisturise the hair. A normal treatment like this can be done in about an hour and 15 minute sitting and the results are pretty immediate as well as can be seen below.

The Process with Joico's Defy Damage Series

In terms to its process, the first thing that is done in the treatment is using the Bond-Protecting Color Optimizer Spray. This is applied on dry hair to protect it from any chosen chemical or styling service that will be done after. It also gives your current tone a boost of vibrancy which is really great too.

Right after, we have the Defy Damage ProSeries 2 to help nuture and regenerate the bonds to strengthen the hair. This will be gently applied to the strands for a while, then rinsed off; following a two time application of the Defy Damage Protective Shampoo to take away any form of dirt or excess oil on the scalp. Next would be the conditioner to give the hair moisture, while smoothing down any form of texture without weighing it down. (You can also opt for the masque for the at-home care once or twice a week)

Something that we found to be pretty amazing about this treatment, is that even with a normal blow-dry, the shine, the smoothness and the overall healthiness of the strands was such a huge improvement from what the hair was an hour or so earlier. We have to say that the technology that Joico has done for this range is just mind-blowing and even feeling the texture of the strands felt different and this was in a good way, because the overall wellbeing of the hair felt much refreshed, lifted and more regenerated.
