Murad City Skin Age Defence Broad Spectrum SPF50PA++++ Review

In our tropical weather, I have always found that the most important step to any skincare or makeup prep has always been sunscreen. I honestly can't stress the importance of this enough and being an avid use of sunscreens myself, a couple of my favourites that are often my go to are usually in between Japanese skincare brands Anessa and Shiseido.

Now I am pretty sure most of you here are familiar with the ones that I am listing above, but today we have another addition, one which is from the brand Murad and its sunscreen that is named the City Skin Age Defence Broad Spectrum Mineral Sunscreen in SPF50 PA++++.

Murad City Skin Age Defence Broad Spectrum Mineral Sunscreen SPF50 PA++++

So for those of you who haven't really heard about the brand Murad, they are a skincare brand from the US that curates an array of clinical skincare products. They have been around the beauty industry for a good while now, and their collection of skincare has been well received globally for being rather effective on most skincare conditions.

Hence in terms to this particular sunscreen, my first thought was that I wasn't quite sure how it would fare on our skin or more so in our tropical heat and humidity, partly because western formulations tend to be rather different; plus I am the sort that has always somewhat preferred Japanese textures over the years, mainly because it works, and is effective on dry skin.

Nonetheless as for the Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 PA++++, it is stated in its description that it is meant to protect, brighten and correct the skin. However it is also good to note that because it is a 100% mineral sunscreen, it does fully protect and shield the skin from the 5 main causes of damage; from UVA, UVB, Pollution, Blue Light from devices and Infrared Radiation as well.

However the thing about mineral sunscreens is that while they do give full on protection against UV rays, a personal concern for me has always been about the heaviness of its formulation. Plus having used a few before, the skin is usually left with a white cast after application, which I am not a big fan of.

Nevertheless, after giving the Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 PA++++ a go, I have to say that I am rather pleased that its texture was nothing like that. Described in its packaging as being ultra-lightweight (which it is), the formulation goes on the skin easily & comfortably which is pretty nice.

Plus while it has a slight warm tone to it, it blends onto the skin really nicely, and gives it a rather nice slightly dewy and brightening effect too. However the other thing to take note about it is that it is not waterproof (so try not to wear it when you are going to the beach or for a swim), but I did enjoy using it as a base before application of makeup as well because its pretty long wearing, not drying and doesn't have a scent as well.

All in all you guys, I really enjoyed using this sunscreen and the more I wear it out (especially in the heat and humidity), the more I am impressed that it stays on and does exactly what it is described to do (worn on above). Also there have been no additional pigmentation that has popped up or to be seen on the skin, so I am pretty happy with that.

In the meantime I do have to state that while the formulation is spot on, a vital fact remains on consideration which is its retail, for a bottle of 50ml of the Murad City Skin Age Defence Broad Spectrum SPF 50 PA++++ goes for RM298. Now understandably this is pretty pricey for a sunscreen, but if you are considering purchasing one, I would highly recommend to go to their stores and try the texture out first because all this of course depends on preference; but in the meantime, you can find it at their Official Murad Website under their SPF range.
