The Ordinary Redefines Radiant Skin with their new Multi-Antioxidant and Radiance Serum

In a recent global survey, 94% of people interviewed desired improvement in their facial skin, and terms such as radiance and healthy, glowing skin's stood out as top requirements they were looking to address.

Radiance, a widely coveted skin quality in the industry, is often described as the 'glowing', 'healthy' or 'bright' appearance of one's complexion. Yet, these surface level descriptors often differ between regions, skin tones, and types, ultimately confusing the meaning of what radiance skin is, and therefore affecting purchase decisions.

In The Ordinary's continued efforts to demystify ingredients and democratise skincare, it seeks to redefine the way consumers view antioxidants and radiance - demonstrating that there is much more to radiant skin than what is seen on the surface.

On the 1st April, the brand will launch Multi-Antioxidant Radiance Serum, a daily multi-active serum with eight technologies, to give holistic protection from environmental stressors, and to visibly brighten dull skin. Not only does the formulation boost radiance, but it helps to even skin tone, smooth skin texture, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles- all of which help to reduce the appearance of atmospheric skin aging, and in turn, create a brighter complexion.

The Link Between Antioxidants and Radiance

Antioxidants are a group of molecules that help to neutralise free radicals and their damaging effects. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can cause damage to the skin, contributing to common concerns like signs of aging and dullness. During everyday life, skin is exposed to many sources of damage from the environment- including factors such as UV light and pollution. Repeated exposure to these types of environmental stressors has been found to contribute to the encouragement of free radicals in the skin and can lead to premature signs of skin damage and aging, including fine lines and winkles, uneven skin tone and dullness.

Antioxidants in skincare act as a neutralising agent, providing a protective effect to the skin at a molecular level, to help limit the damage caused by such environmental stressors, which subsequently results in more radiant and healthy-looking skin.

To quantify this radiant look of the skin, there are six characteristics that-regardless of skin tone and type-generally encompass radiance. Predominantly, it is the light reflection of the skin that generally make it seem more radiant. Other characteristics including plumpness, minimal texture, even tone, hydration and a balanced complexion also widely contribute to radiant skin.

Beyond Vitamin C

Vitamins are possibly the most widely used and known category of antioxidants within skincare. Yet, there are many different antioxidant technologies; from vitamins, to plant-sourced, to synthetics. So, while using one antioxidant in a regimen can still offer benefits, using multiple can offer a more holistic and effective approach to antioxidant support, with a wider range of benefits.

The Ordinary's Multi-Antioxidant Radiance Serum uses 8 key antioxidant technologies to maximise these benefits. The selection of antioxidant technologies offers a host of benefits, including the improvement of fine lines and winkles from Ascorbyl Glucoside, a stabilised form of Vitamin C, and the protection from external stressors that can contribute to signs of aging from Ginseng Extract and EGCG.

Working For You Overnight

Not only does this radiance-boosting serum offer a multi-faceted approach to antioxidant skincare, but it is also suited to use during the day and at night. Antioxidants are usually thought of as part of your morning skincare routine, so they can protect against environmental stress you may encounter throughout the day. When used in the day, the serum-textured formulation helps shield and against the damaging effects of pollution, while providing lasting hydration and barrier support of enhanced skin resilience.

But actually-they're just as important at night. Thoughtout the day, your skin accumulates environmental stress that it works to repair while you sleep. So by using antioxidants before bed, they can work at night to support your \skin as it repairs itself, allowing you to wake up to more radiant skin in the morning. Essentially, think of the antioxidant as becoming your skin's personal sleeper agent.

It is recommended to not use this formulation alongside peptides, and separating the ingredients in different regimens. In the meantime, The Ordinary Multi-Antioxidant Radiance Serum is going for MYR90 and additional information can be found at their official website at theordinary.com
