Weekends at THIRTY8 Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur | Afternoon Tea Buffet

So yesterday we headed over to Grand Hyatt KL to spend some quality time with the family and to try out their restaurant THIRTY8's delectable afternoon tea buffet. Located strategically on the 38th floor, the restaurant has an impressive 360-degree city view which opens up to a beautifully well designed space.

THIRTY8's Afternoon Tea Buffet

Now the restaurant itself has a very modern yet warm feel and is extremely inviting for families, friends and professionals. Plus together with a breathtaking view, you can be assured that it would be a dining experience that you would always remember.
Things to note:
  • If you are coming up from the parking, head on over to the express elevator to the 38th floor, and then take another mini elevator 1 floor down (the entrance to THIRTY8 is one floor below)

Moving on the THIRTY8's afternoon tea buffet, the spread here was quite lovely and very appetising at that. There was a wide array of confectionaries; ranging from freshly baked treats, luscious cakes, classic eclairs, assorted macaroons and more; plus if you were ever in the need of patisserie chocolates , then this would be the place to be to have it as well.

Now a personal favourite amongst these were definitely the cakes. Each of them had a distinctive taste about them and were very uniquely structured; plus they were very nicely balanced in terms of flavour. What was enjoyed was that while they were very rich in taste, they were not overly sweet or heavy, which was perfect; especially if you would like to give a try on the other desserts that were there too.

Served To The Table | A La Minute Menu

THIRTY8 also has the option of their A La Minute Menu as well, where dishes are freshly prepared upon order and served directly to your table. Above we have their assorted dim sum consisting of 4 individually prepped options of prawns, vegetables, chicken and a salted egg bun. Each of these were extremely savoury and is a wonderful option to share amongst family and friends.

In terms to THIRTY8's steamed sea bass and daily chinese noodles, we were told that these were the two must order dishes on the menu. True enough, the sea bass was extremely soft in texture and had a rather nice balance of sweet and savoury in its taste, and as for the daily Chinese noodles, it was served with a generous helping of wantons, minced chicken and mushrooms; which made the dish all the more delish.

There were other options on the A La Minute as well such as the Caprese Salad, Shake Salad, Seafood Dumplings, Potato Puffs, Spring Rolls and more; but another two favourites that tickled our fancy were definitely the Wok-Fried Carrot Cake with eggs, seafood and chives as well as the Shepherd's Pie which had wonderfully seasoned minced lamb and mash potatoes. These two were a good mix to have on the table and are certainly must order items on the menu as well.

As for palette cleansers, we would also recommend trying out THIRTY8's crème brûlée and chocolate lava serve, because these two were just delectable, creamy and rich in taste. They are also served directly to the table as well, so rest assured you would get them right from the kitchen and served to you warm and fresh.

On overall, the dining experience at THIRTY8 at Grand Hyatt was wonderful, but its good to note to come early to secure a good table with a great view as it is on a first come first serve basis. As for its availability, the Afternoon Tea Buffet is on every Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays from 12pm - 5pm at RM160 nett per adult and MYR80 nett per child. It is inclusive of free flow of tea and coffee as well, so if you would like to make a reservation, you can give them a call at 03-21821234. In the meantime, for further details, you can check them out at their Official Website too.
