The Face Shop's Yehwadam First Serum | What You Need To Know

THE FACE SHOP 's Yehwadam series has been one of my absolute favourites over the years, and being a big fan of serums in general, I am always on the lookout to combine the benefits of the two; one being anti-aging, while the other being revitalising.

Now we all know that a lot of serums work differently to different skin types, and seeing that we live in a tropical country, most of us do tend to gravitate towards more refined and gentle textures; which for today's item of the day topic, the Yehwadam First Serum does carry.

So what exactly does the Yehwadam First Serum do? Well to put it plainly, the product is basically the first layer of your skincare routine right after cleansing that replenishes the Qi (vital energy) to enhance the skin's inner strength, thus giving it intensive hydration as well as prepping it by boosting product absorption for the next skincare steps. 

It has an ultra lightweight water texture and is specially made for layering with a remedy formulation that contains a trio of specially selected herbs, which of course will be listed below for easier reference.

The Selected Herbs Within:

1. Ginseng: Replenishes energy, increases moisture levels and relieves fatigue.
2. Safflower: Improves blood circulation, promotes collagen synthesis and prevents inflammation.
3. Goji Berry: Has anti-aging and antioxidant properties to help the skin feel refreshed and energised. It also increases skin hydration and promotes firmness.

Now in terms to its utilisation, it is good to note that this product should be used as an additional step in your usual skincare routine. It is not a replacement to your everyday serum, essence or toner which I actually find really great - because this way, the formulation is not going to be too overly rich when other products are layered on top of it.

Formulation, Texture and Scent:

1. The formulation is very refreshing and delivers intense hydration to the skin upon application.
2. It has a liquid like texture that absorbs into the skin quite quickly and gives it a very cooling feel.
3. It has a very earthy and refreshing scent, which is quite calming and nice.

So how can you make the most out of the Yehwadam First Serum? Well one way I like to do it is to make it into a refreshing face mist. If you guys have been following me on Instagram, you know I actually like doing this quite a bit. For this however, all you would need to do is to pour the First Serum into a small spray bottle and store it in the fridge for a cooling pick me up. This way, the item would be portable, easy to keep in your everyday bag and is able to refresh the skin after a long day.

Another way is to make it, is into a soothing and glow enhancing mask. A simple method with this, is that you can soak cotton pads or do a mask tablet with the First Serum, then place it on your cheeks and other areas that are prone to dryness and dullness. Leave it for a good 10 minutes and then this would revitalise and hydrate the areas nicely. I personally enjoy doing this step whenever I am on flight.
