Visiting the sights at Stanley

Stanley has got to be one of the more picturesque places that we have been to in awhile and if you are the type who loves the open sea breeze, leisure walks and beautiful scenic sights along the way, then this would be one of the venues that you may want to hit up while you are in Hong Kong.

Do note that Stanley is quite far from the city - a good 45 minutes ride by bus or taxi but if you go there on a really good day, the sights will certainly not disappoint. It would always be best to explore the place as there are tons of things to see; such as the Stanley Market, Murray House, Repulse Bay and more but if you are thinking of staying there for a day to really immerse in the beauty of it, you can also opt for a room at Mini Studio Stanley.

So the concept for Mini Studio Stanley has a very modern and fresh look as compared to its vintage sister that was located at Causeway Bay. Nonetheless, the design suits very well to the attraction of Stanley, keeping things at a very relaxed pace with a tidy and graceful feel.

For those who would like to extend their stay for a longer term, the monthly rate here goes for about HK$5000 for a 60-150 sqft room. This is given with complimentary WiFi, cooking facilities and a weekly cleaning service that comes about once a week.


Amenities here include the basics as well but no worries on that, for if you would need anything additional, you can simply go and get them within a five minute walk from the accommodation. This venue is best suited for those who are open to exploration and enjoy the great outdoors.

Now for those of you who would like to do a little shopping here, the village of Stanley also has a venue called Stanley Market about 10 minutes away from the hotel which is a huge hit with the locals, expats and tourists.

The best place for souveniers

This is hugely popular because there are tons of things to see here; expanding from its enormous selection of silk garments, sportswear, brand-name clothing, jewelry, home furnishings, souvenirs to ornaments and more.


All these are sold at pretty reasonable prices too and the each individual boutique are usually opened around 11am in the morning and closed by 6pm. If that is not enough to peg your interest, there are also nearby eateries that you can visit to have lunch  as well.

As for the other attractions around Stanley, there are several temples that you can go to that are extremely lovely such as Tin Hau, Tai Wong Ye, Kwun Yum and Pak Tai but the one that had the most beautiful view had to be our final selection, Pak Tai that overlooked the historic Blake Pier.

In addition, if you walk down from the temple during the evening, you will be able to view the sunset from the rocks; when and if during low tide, you can head up and explore. The view here is stunning so if you do have the chance to experience it, you can certainly do so here.

Now from where we were at, we took a little 20 minute stroll down the sidewalk into Murray House. This Victorian era building is located across from Blake Pier and houses some of the loveliest restaurants with an amazing view. There is also a huge H&M outlet there, so if in the meantime, you would like to do some shopping before having dinner, you can always opt to do that as well.

There are also other restaurants along the streets of Stanley that are open at night, so if you would like a change of scene, you can also head down to Stanley Beach and try some of their restaurant cuisines.

You will have a few options to look over such as the Beach Club that serves international dishes, Bayside Brasserie (Western, Asian, Indian and Pizza), Sukho Thai and more. While the platings for each restaurant may be nice, it also might be a little expensive, so it is best to pay with your credit card so that you won't completely use up your Hong Kong currency in a flash.
