Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo By Eyestudio Review

10.11.13

Maybelline New York

I have always been a big fan of Maybelline products; whether it was their lipsticks or lipgloss range, makeup removers, blush, mascara or  foundation coverage.

Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo

So when I heard that Maybelline launched a cream shadow for their Spring Collection called the 24 hour Color Tattoo by EyeStudio back in 2012, I was ecstatic.

I have always enjoyed using highly pigmented eye-shadows to create vibrant looks so when I started reading the reviews on this product, I was very keen due to the fact that it was also long lasting and did not crease throughout it's application.

So you could say that I kept searching high and low for this product and finally through Luxola.com I got the colors that I wanted.

The Spring Line Range 2012

The Spring Line Range 2012 is originally available in 9 vibrant shades.

Of course there were different color collections that came over time but most reviewers used these 9 cream eye shadows colors mostly as an eyeshadow base, a colorful eyeliner to give a high-end elegant look for those who are rushing and want a quick fix or as a simple stand alone.

As I was searching for the more vibrant color palettes for this particular collection, I got my hands on 4 gorgeous hues which was the "45 Bold Gold, 40 Tenacious Teal, 20 Painted Purple and 50 Edgy Emerald."

Back Cover

Looking very similar to the Mac Paint Pots with regards to it's packaging, Maybelline has curated a glass base along with the classic black cover for the top stating the product's specifics.

Now as I was quite eager to try out the products to see if they lived up to previous reviews, let's start off with the color "45 Bold Gold."

45 Bold Gold Application

The Unveiling Inside

The Vibrancy of the Color

The Application

This '40 Bold Gold' color comes in a shimmery gold that glitters from different angles. 1 layer is enough to combat through 6-8 hours of any party function without any form of smudging or color decay.

And this is without applying any lid primer to the eyelids for a long lasting finish. Thumbs up!

Pros:
  • Long Lasting (up to 6-8 hours)
  • Highly Pigmented
  • No Crease or Signs of Smudging
  • Shimmery
  • Not Sticky

Cons:
  • Applying more than two coats will make your lids look a bit to heavy and cakey. But other than that it's the perfect color to use for party functions.

The 4 Colors

Overall, I love the four colors that I received from Luxola. It's quite rare to find cream eye-shadows that does not crease and blends quite well. With regards, the combination of colors can also be blended to create an amplified look or even a subtle one.

What's more, each vibrant hue comes in a 4g (14oz) glass pot that will be able to last you for at least a year.

As for the price details, each color tattoo pot retails at RM35 each and I would have to say that it is pretty affordable for beauty lovers out there who enjoy highly pigmented hues or are simply looking for a good color base to create a more vibrant effect.

So as I am quite pleased with this product, I would give my overall rating for the 4 colors a 9/10 ^.^

Xx!

  3. These babies are among my awesome finds, hehe! Been wearing them for a lot of big events actually, coz its effortless and so pretty ^_^ I wish Maybelline can be generous enough to provide more colors for Malaysians. I have all 7 colors offered here yet I'm still yearning for some colors from the Metal collection and the color Pomegranate Punk/Metallic Pomegranate.

But I'm still waiting to come across the Metal range colors - quite difficult to find here unless purchased from overseas online sites.
