My Date With Beauty at The Great Guardian Makeover

My date with Beauty @ The Great Guardian Makeover

Since 2008, The Great Guardian Makeover has been a yearly event where families and loved ones are able to take part in learning makeup tips, styles and the works of how to make themselves look and feel good from the inside out.

The respective stations at The Great Guardian Makeover

With the event's tremendous increase in numbers up to attracting more than 1,500 people to date, I was extremely eager to see what the event would bring to it's customers and participants for the year 2014. So before I start I would like to give a big thank you to Guardian and The Butterfly Project for this great opportunity.

Customers who purchased RM20 and above, including one participatin brand in a single receipt were entitled to one Makeover Ticket at RM10 to join The Great Guardian Makeover event. Each Makeover Ticket is entitled to a makeover session, photo session and a goody bag.

Themed "My Date with Beauty" , this year's Great Guardian Makeover was held at 1 Utama with it's hair and makeup partner A Cut Above Academy.

Lucky Draws and Sampling at each brand station

With a total of 20 hair stylists and make-up artists, The Great Guardian Makeover also featured 18 brands this year ; L'Oreal Paris, Maybelline New York, Alcon, Avene, Bio Essence, BioGrow Oat BG22, Biore, Blackmores, Brands, Dermatix, Enchanteur, Hada Labo, Nano White, Neutrogena, Nivea, Oslee, Palmer's and Safi, there were definitely many fun filled activities to keep participants entertained.

Emcees for the event; Mix. fm's DJ Dilly and JD

DJ Dilly and DJ JD from Mix fm were the emcees for the event and I have to say that I loved them as hosts. Great combination of fun, entertainment and laughter.

To get us in that groovy condition, we had a fantastic dance performance for an opening act. Using the song "Happy" from Pharrell Williams was definitely an infectious mix that got us into that happy mood.

Photo Op
After the performance and a short photo op later, each of quickly adjourned to our seats to try out The Great Guardian Makeover.

Caroline doing her hair and Yin Yin doing her makeup

When we came to our seats we noticed that at each makeover station had two sections; one for makeup another for hair do. Since for the makeup we could opt for two looks; nude or glamorous, I decided to go for the glamorous one since I always lean towards light makeup for everyday use.

With my lovely makeup artist - The Before Shot

Ah the bare faced look. What a way to go on a Saturday morning. Nonetheless it was an extremely fun experience which I thoroughly enjoyed. Plus I couldn't stop marveling at the fact that my makeup was done in under 10 minutes. The makeup artist had such a wonderful skill.

Yin Yin and her new hairstyle

Moving on to our next section which was the hairdos, we had 6 hairstyles to choose from, sectioned into two categories. 3 styles were for long hair and another 3 were for short hair.

With my fabulous hair stylist who made my crazy hair perfect

As I had shoulder length hair, I decided to go with a simple wave. I was actually looking at the braid one that the others were doing but seeing that my hair was in layers, I could only imagine how my stray hairs would stick out like a sore thumb. Oh well.

Our Set Lunch at Dave's Deli

As the event went on to the afternoon, we were treated to a relaxing lunch at Dave's Deli which was on the same floor as The Great Guardian Makeover event. Western food in all it's glory indeed.
