ONO Cafe | SS2 Petaling Jaya

Since we haven't really been around cafes much in 2021, we decided to drop by ONO at SS2 just before lunch hour last week. It was a quaint little place, but since it was a full house that day, we had to wait our turn in queue before going in.

Now we wished we took some pictures of the cafe, as it had a very nice minimalistic & Scandinavian vibe to it, but the venue was pretty occupied with the lunch crowd, so we decided to pull our focus on the food instead. Nonetheless, everything was done in an orderly fashion by the staff to ensure that we got to our seats in a safe manner, plus sop and social distancing was maintained, so all in all going in was pretty smooth.

So let's talk about the menu and what we ordered. Now Ono serves both coffee and Japanese Tea and as you can see on the menu, they are stated to be The World's First Coffee and Matcha Specialist. The structure of their menu is kept minimal, with varied choices under their standard drinks which are sectioned into 4; Espresso Based Coffee, Filter Coffee, Japanese Tea | Matcha, and Houjicha. They also have speciality drinks that you can select as well under Coffee x Matcha Signature, Coffee Signature and Matcha Signature too.

As for their selection of food, it is a little limited, but they do have both savoury and dessert sandos which were pretty interesting to us. So back to our selection from the menu, we decided to have 2 x Matcha Teas at RM13 each and gave a go at their Smoked Salmon Mascarpone Sando at RM26.

In terms to the Matcha Teas, they were kept light, smooth but flavourful, and the hint of matcha definitely could be tasted as it was being consumed. Additionally, the aesthetic of its presentation was extremely pleasing to the eye as it was served in a frosted glass with ONO's signature branding up front with a glass straw.

As for the Smoked Salmon Mascarpone Sando, it was made with homemade diced smoked salmon, lemon mascarpone cheese, butterhead lettuce, diced onion with Trevino and basil along with some Japanese Shokupan bread. We expected this to be a bit heavy to be honest, but to our surprise, this tasted really light and nice, plus it was extremely savoury too. So will most definitely be back for that.

So on overall, ONO cafe was really nice, but since it was pretty occupied that day, we would probably return when there would be less of a crowd. Nonetheless, from the environment of the cafe, to its friendly staff, menu and drinks, we would certainly be back for more for it is certainly a place to visit if you are ever around SS2. In the meantime, more details of ONO cafe will be listed below for reference as well.
