Malaysia Fashion Week 2014: Part 1


In Collaboration with Mercedes-Benz

So after laying low for the past week, we are back with full force with the grand launch of Malaysia Fashion Week 2014. Spanning through the 17th to 22nd October, Malaysia's Fashion Week was a collaborative effort between national trade promotion agency, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and the country's leading fashion event organizer STYLO International.

The partnership with STYLO International also sees the collaborative effort of the Mercedes-Benz Stylo Asia Fashion Week into further boosting Malaysia Fashion Week. So with over 12 fashion shows featuring 61 designers from 15 countries, we shall take a look at some of the highlights of styles that were presented at the runway.

Now since the fashion shows were spread out within the last two days after the launch, we are going to be splitting the coverage to three separate posts. So this way you will be able to see the designs that were showcased by each fashion designer present. Kindly note that we only went for selected showcases so what you see is what you get. Being the winner of the Young Designer Award for Malaysian Textile Association Competition back in 2004; we would expect nothing less of this fashion designer who seems to be always leaving us wanting more. Stressing luxury through his couture by incorporating draping and pleats; his designs accentuates elegance but still keeping within the saying of "less is more and more is less."

With designer Roland Alzate

Known for his distinctive ultra modern designs, Roland Alzate gives his styles a touch of feminine flirtation. This Malaysia Fashion Week 2014, we see a lot of bold prints, beautiful detailing and strong colors. With regards, we can note that  since making his debut in 2012,  Roland Alzate continues to design for the elegant alpha women; one who leads the pack and are continuously empowered.

We can clearly see that Malaysian fashion designer Joyce Wong's inspiration comes from people and places like fashion magazines and her collection embodies wonderful detailing with great downtown styling with powerful femininity.


There is a theme that follows for Joyce Wong's showcase for Malaysia Fashion Week 2014 and we have to say that in terms of color and design for the new Spring/Summer 2015 wear, the line is definitely a crowd favorite.

Channeling colorful prints with easy to wear chic designs, Fairuz Ramdan's collection showcase for Malaysia Fashion Week channels a mix of cooling hues and vibrant colors. Known for his trade mark vintage style and classic tailoring, this British born fashion designer builds a distinctive pattern to each design that he creates.

Phuong My has completely captured our hearts with her fantastic designs and each outfit symbolizes her attention to detail, her selection on materials and her keen eye to style. Expressing elegance and femininity to each individual ensemble, her Spring/Summer 2015 Collection is definitely one to look out for.

  3. Wow! This season has some very bright colors! Fairuz Ramdan's prints stand out beautifully and I love the colorful and floral dresses by Joyce Wong, they look so fun and edgy. Great stuff!
