Attending the Fashion Show |
So a week ago, Arpita and Claudine and I were invited for Dorothy Perkins & Burton Menswear London Spring/Summer Fashion Show.
The set up |
The set up for the event was spectacular, highlighting a stunning backdrop opposite both stores together with a photo-booth at the corner of the fashion platform.
My outfit of the day |
The girls and I had recently rushed from a previous event which had ended at 4pm so luckily we manage to make it in time for the fashion display.
My outfit of the day consisted of a beautiful 3/4 sleeve full laced black dress from Miusol, color blocked high heels from Chanel, a simple feathery long gold chain from Mustachic, gold rimmed hoop earrings from Forever21 and a gold watch from Michael Kors.
With fellow bloggers Claudine and Arpita |
As we were shown to our designated seats, the girls and I were also served champagne and refreshing fruity drinks to quench our thirsts along with delightful appetizers and palette cleansers.
Host Thanuja Ananthan with Tan Ley Teng |
Wearing a simple pastel pink dress from Dorothy Perkin Spring Summer Collection 2014, Miss World 2009, Thanuja Ananthan was our host for the night.
After introducing the stunning VIPs, she showcased the first compilation which was the Spring/Summer Collection from Dorothy Perkins.
Dorothy Perkins Collection |
Embracing two key looks; "Pretty & Feminine Pastels" and "Geometric Graphics with a Sports Luxe Feel" , the collection signals the return of femininity, combining sheer and lace textures with delicate organza details.
Dorothy Perkins Spring/Summer Collection Set 1 |
Separates are key for Spring/Summer- whether it's a midi skirt teamed with a dip-hem top or wide leg palazzo pants with a translucent blouse. The midi length is a must-have whether in a sheer panel detail dress or printed skirts.
The graphic trend combines minimalism and geometric prints for a relaxed easy to wear collection. Laser cut, asymmetric finishing and color blocking are mixed with sheer paneling and midi length styles. The monochrome color palette receives and injection of color and the inclusion of delicate floral prints.
Dorothy Perkins Spring/Summer Collection Set 2 |
For casual wear, washed out denim is mixed with the soft pastel palette. Simple tees are given an instant update with pretty embroidery and jacquard detailing. The summer sweat makes a playful return with fun logos and lace wording.
Long-line blazers and fitted zip detail jackets are the perfect outerwear options and footwear classics like the flat brogue and simple court get a feminine make-over in sugar pastels colors and metallics.
Dorothy Perkins Spring/Summer Collection Set 2 |
Coordinated sets in fresh whites and soft tones are worn together to create a ladylike chic silhouette, worn with metallic flat sandals or strappy heels with a fold over soft clutch to finish the look.
Burton's Menswear London Collection |
Next up is Burton Menswear London Spring/Summer Collection 2014. You can say that the message from Burton is loud and clear; simple, stylish and confident is the definite way forward. Through a cohesive, wearable and masculine line, Burton lives up to its promise of making it easy for every man to wear great clothing.
Clear trend stories with vibrant summer color palettes, cool street-wear, vintage refinement and perfectly cut tailoring provide the definite summer wardrobe.
Burton's Menswear London Spring/Summer Collection Set 1 |
Burton's first collection takes on the challenges of urban living. City living is explored further with the Gothic Skater and California Warrior trend. A dark palette takes over with black, slate and white creating a sporty and decidedly laid back approach to summer dressing.
Grey marl drawstring joggers and navy jersey make a simple but significant statement. Black wash denim shirts partner with monochrome baseball jersey tops and the Gothic Skater is ready to roll.
Burton's Menswear London Spring/Summer Collection Set 2 |
It's time to smarted up the act, and for this Burton looks towards the timeless and elegant pieces that are intrinsic to stylish menswear. Wardrobe staples such as the single breasted mac, pale blue and pink linen tailoring and a light chambray collarless shirt make up the Vintage Traditions range.
Traditional navy, stone and mushroom appears alongside pastel hues of lilac, spearmint and pale pink to create perfect modern classics.
Burton Menswear London Spring/Summer Collection Set 3 |
Finally, step forward the Super Mod. Sharp and cool suiting in slate, dark grey and Prince of Wales check offers a slick tailoring alternative for the confident style.
Rich, natural colors dominate the theme and we find some of the most striking pieces from the collection including tailoring in teal and cobalt, both suits exquisitely slim-cut and contemporary.

Overall the event was a great success and as each of us were given tokens of appreciation and vouchers from both stores, we headed on over to redeem the apparels that we took a liking to.
If you have seen some of my previous posts, you would have come to realize by now that most of my clothes are from Dorothy Perkins. I don't know why but I always find their collections very tres chic and elegant to wear; not to mention extremely comfortable as well. And I have to say with this current collection launch, both Dorothy Perkins and Burton Menswear London did not disappoint.

ReplyDeleteYou look a natural on that catwalk, Shivani. They need to put you up there more often. Lovely post up of this event and great fashion shots.
The collection was very office chic I would say,lol :P M&S is something similar but of a more expensive range though. And thanks babe *blush*-though I think Arpita has a more 'fashion-fierce' look that Tyra Banks would have absolutely adored more on the catwalk, lol ^^
