How Does it Fare? | Marc Jacobs Under Cover Perfecting Coconut Face Primer

For Glowing Skin | Prep & Prime

Ever since Marc Jacobs released their Under Cover Perfecting Coconut Face Primer, we have heard nothing but good things on it. Having a rather in-depth discussion with some good friends in the beauty industry, it was noted that this was because many who have invested in it, appreciated its nutrient-rich formula that improves the skin's texture, as well as the product having a strong vitamin barrier that holds a good balance between the skin's natural layer and makeup.

So least to say that curiosity got the better of many of us, so to put the rumors to rest, we sat down and did a thorough take on it on the three types of skin-tones; one dry, another combination and last but not least an oily tone.

The Frosted Packaging

The first thing that was noted when the consistency was pumped out, was that the product had a rather rich and refreshing scent of coconut. It wasn't too overpowering mind you, but it gave a sense of comfort to its user, and it was the kind that is reminiscent of the feeling when you walk into Lush or Yankee Candle stores.

A Closer Look

Texture wise is rather thin as well, making it easy to spread all over the face without compromising any prep before hand (such as the Benefit Porefessional for example) and it also allows the skin to breathe easily without clogging any pores.

After application, it was noticed that each skin texture had a rather subtle glow to it (not entirely dewy or matte), hence boosting a more healthy radiance and plumpness before applying any form of foundation.

On its texture

Now one pump is good enough for the whole face and once absorbed there is no feeling of stickiness or roughness on the skin. One thing that we really liked about it, was that the smoothness of its texture did not feel artificial (like silicone) but instead felt very lightweight and kept the skin more hydrated than it was before.

Having suffered from dry patches on certain areas as well, this came much appreciated as it evened out the texture on both dry and combination skin (not color tone), so when a foundation was applied, it gave the skin a very smooth finish with no break outs after.

Consistency

On overall, the Marc Jacobs Under Cover Perfecting Coconut Face Primer is a thumbs up for most skin tones but if you are struggling with sensitive skin, it would be best to consult a well informed staff at Sephora to see how it would suit you best. So far, it has worked well on all three skin-tones that we have tried (dry, combination and oily) and in terms of long-wear, you could say that foundation application glided on much smoothly and more better than usual, although oily skin textures might need to have a touch up every 3 hours or so).

That sheer glow after application

So if you are looking to make a purchase of it, you can head on to Sephora Online or their stores to see if they have it in stock, but keep in mind that the price point for this is a little steep as it retails for RM205 for a single bottle. In the meantime, for further details, you can follow Sephora Malaysia and Marc Jacobs Beauty for more information.
