The Kose Sekkisei Herbal Gel

Now every few months or so, I go through my skincare stash just to see what I have at hand, but more or less it is purely with the intention of refreshing my skincare regime with something new. You would find that I am always interchanging in between serums, toners and cleansers, but the most that I would often switch back and forth with are always without a doubt my moisturizers.

So thus, I came across my Kose collective and seeing that the brand had worked very well for me before, I decided to fully utilize the brand's Sekkisei Herbal Gel. This was not at all intended to use as a mask at night, because it would probably be too strong, and I was looking for more of a moisturization aspect to my dry skin, so this was used mostly during the evenings, where after a long day of wearing makeup, it would give my skin the additional soothing effect of hydration and radiance.

However before I start off on whether the product had worked well for me or if it was effective, let me give you a brief description on what the Sekkisei Herbal Gel is suppose to do. Now the product claims to have 6 benefits in 1 jar, long lasting hydration that can last up to 8 hours and also the fact that it soothes and smooths the skin to give an overall healthy radiance to the face.

From what I can tell you after a couple of months of using this, is that first off, the texture is well suited for dry skin. As for those of you who have oily and sensitive skin, you might want to rethink on purchasing this because the gel formulation here has more of an oily-velvet consistency instead of a watery one, so it might be too overwhelming for you upon use.

Texture

However case in point, the effectiveness on this is there. I do notice a great deal of brightening and radiance with this product, but while that is splendid, the boost of hydration here is not as much as I would have hoped for. Don't get me wrong, it certainly does give the skin the nourishing benefit, but it is not as long lasting as I would have wanted it. At most, the skin would probably be kept well hydrated for over 2 hours and thus after that, you might need to reapply the texture again to have that supple feeling on your skin.

Nonetheless I enjoy using the texture. The formulation absorbs really quickly, plus it just melts into the skin wonderfully. It does have a lingering herbal scent which I am quite alright with, and the packaging is a classic Kose transparent crystallizing blue hue which I just adore.

Thoughts

Now on overall, I like this product quite a bit, but if you were to ask me if I would be jumping over hoops for this, probably not. It is not my personal holy grail moisturizer of preference, but I do like it in terms of it being effective and doing exactly what it is supposed to do.

So I find that if you were the type to travel, then this one would definitely suit to your needs, especially when you are on a plane where quick moisturization is needed, or if you are in a really cold climate where a good boost would certainly help your skin out.
