MAC Freshen Up High-Light Powder (Wash & Dry Collection) Review

Freshen Up by MAC

This limited edition highlighter has been on my favorite list for weeks and its warm tone houses three beautiful shades; a light yellow gold, a subtle peach and a deep coral. Coating above these three tones is a shimmery golden overspray that is dusted all along the entire pan.

This tri-toned high-light powder from MAC comes from its limited edition Wash and Dry Collection which was launched back in May and following its name 'Freshen Up', it gives a muted shimmer along the high points of the face.

The three tones in the high-light powder

This high-light powder reflects a perfect tone for summer and is similar to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders. It is subtle and gives a gentle level of shimmer rather than a "In your face" high metallic finish plus it also stays on the skin for a good 6-7 hours without any shift.

Its shimmery golden overspray does not affect the satiny finish on the three colors and is removable after a couple of swipes with your brush. Buffing the colors out on the high points of the cheeks had no issues and a gentle tap is all that is needed to work and blend the colors well into your skin.

Application on the cheeks

Swirling all three shades together with a highlighter brush gives the face a straight up radiant look and I find this to be extremely wearable as opposed to some of the pearl or glittery highlights that I often use. There is a slight pick up of glitter, which I suppose is the balance of the shimmer dust that has rested into the pan due to the overspray, so the high-light does give a slight pick me up when needed.

However I do use this High-Light Powder more as a blush as the dark coral shade at the bottom does wonders for my cheeks. I usually would work the highlight mixing the gold and peach together but on certain days when I am in a rush, a simple swirl would do.

For more details on the highlighter, you can watch the video above but if you are looking to make a purchase, this pan retails at RM154 at all MAC stores. This is a limited edition collection however so I am not sure if it has been sold out but even if it is, I am certain you would be able to find it online as well.

Xx!
