Laura Mercier Matte-To-Metal Holiday Caviar Stick Colour Collection

The Laura  Mercier Matte-To-Metal Holiday Caviar Stick Colour Collection

Coming across the Laura Mercier Matte-To Metal Holiday Caviar Stick Color Collection while in Sephora two weeks back, I remember seeing two sets, one the In-the Glow Trio - Highlight 01 and this.

Contemplating on getting it took me a while due to the pricing but what I truly did not anticipate on was how fast the units were going to sell out. Within three days the highlighter sets were gone and on the fourth, there was only 1 more unit left of the Matte-To Metal Caviar Sticks. Not wanting to repeat what I had missed, I took my chance on the splurge and went home with them.

Was it worth it?

The shades within the set

Undoubtedly, yes. The variety that you get with these 6 deluxe sized caviar sticks is a pleasing amount and seeing that there are four permanent shimmery shades and two new matte limited editions ones (Aubergine and Ganache), you are definitely getting it at a steal.

Each of these shades have a long wearing, transfer resistant formulation and while having a rather rounded end, it is very easy to apply it all over the eyelid including the lower lash-line. You can also opt to use it as a base and layer on the eyeshadow of your choice for a stronger color payoff as well.

The size (Laura Mercier Full Size in Plum and Deluxe in Ganache)
The product within

Packaging on the other hand is capped with a very tight and sturdy lid that secures well as it prevents the product from drying out and in terms of the product within, the amount that you get as compared to its full size (1.64 grams) would be about more than half (1 gram). However seeing as one caviar stick already costs about RM99, the set is priced at a really good value seeing as you would get six of them in retail around RM250, instead of paying nearly up to RM600 as an alternative.

However out of all the swatches I have done in the past on shadow sticks (Elianto, Bobbi Brown, Marc Jacobs, Rimmel, etc), Laura Mercier is still my number one just because its texture is so easy to blend and the color does not shift, even after more than 6 hours. It carries beautiful pigment as well and somehow I just find that all their shades are very wearable too.

Swatches From Left: Aubergine, Ganache, Khaki, Amethyst, Rosegold and Sugar Frost

As you can see from the swatches done on this set, the colors are stunning and as each shade compliments one another very well within the set, they are simply effortless to say the least. They provide great wear during any occasion; both day and night plus the formulation seems to be consistent throughout; whether matte or shimmer.

The six shades

Overall this is one of the best purchases made during this Christmas season and seeing that I didn't expect to like and use it as much as I do now, I am truly delightful with the set as I am definitely getting more wear out of it.

Although I can't seem to remember the exact retail price for this (Roughly estimated around RM250), I can say that this has been one discovery that was certainly worth the splurge and effort, so good job Laura Mercier. In the meantime, for more details on the full sized shades, you can head over to their Official Facebook Page for further information.

Xx!

  12. What is this exactly babe? Eyeliners or eyeshadow in pencil form? if it is, then it's rather expensive in my opinion! Not something i would splurge on despite liking the shades lol.
