The Carpenter's Daughter |
Today I am going to be delving into a little indulgence chapter and this page turner is called
The Carpenter's Daughter. Located in
USJ, Taipan, this little cafe celebrates the love for artisan bread; and with their passionate team of professional chefs, each delectable plating is carefully prepared using only fresh, organic and natural ingredients.

Classic French Toast - RM15.90 |
So in conjunction with their
4th anniversary this August, we headed there to explore their new menu wanting to know more, even though getting parking around the area was a little challenging than most.
Upon stepping in, I did wonder about the name; for after all
"The Carpenter's Daughter" title did throw me off for it was not a local bakery name. Little did I know that the owner had founded this place based on her roots and all the furniture that was within was actually handmade by her own father, who was to my delight was a bona fide carpenter.

Bread Platter - RM20.90 |
However before I digress, let's move on to the menu. On top you see the
Classic French Toast, served with a side of organic agave, butter, jam and baked apple with cinnamon. Soft and buttery on the inside; it is best eaten hot together with the baked apple and jam for that mixture really hits the spot.
As for the
Bread Platter, it is an assortment of a hearty four served with toasted walnuts, truffle butter and grapes. It comes with a side of soup and depending on your preference, it can either be mushroom, organic lentil, minestrone or pumpkin.
 |
Roasted Garlic Shrimp Dip: RM24.90 |
Now this dish of
Roasted Garlic Shrimp Dip was a personal flavor. Served with a dash of chili, delicious garlic and herb, this combination of shrimp and scallop dish definitely kept me wanting more. All this was accompanied with slices of Italian bread as well.
 |
Yogurt Parfait & More - RM23.90 |
As for the
Yogurt Parfait & More, this mixture of muesli yogurt parfait, healthy quinoa salad, fresh orange juice and mini roll with tuna is an ideal combination for brunch. It can be split between two individuals or if you are just really hungry, it would be a good refreshment for your palette as well.
 |
Classic Aglio Olio with Smoked Duck - RM15.90 |
Now onto our mains. The first is the
Classic Aglio Olio and what really impressed me about it was the side of
Smoked Duck that came with it. Don't get me wrong, the
Aglio Olio on its own was the alright but it was the side dish that really made the meal whole. Savory and lush, the taste was quite exquisite and it was cooked to the perfect softness that made the entire plating completely enjoyable.
 |
Buckwheat Assam Laksa - RM16.90 |
 |
A Closer Look |
As for the other main which was the
Buckwheat Assam Laksa, it definitely was an interesting dish to explore and discover. The taste was unique and tangy; and surprisingly enough the addition of the buckwheat noodles turned out to be a lovely accompaniment to the soup.
 |
The Array of Scones, Lemon Meringue and Mushroom Quiche |
 |
Carrot Cake |
Alright now on to the dish that has everybody intrigued; the lemon meringues. This was part of the
Afternoon Tea for 2 (RM42.90) that serves a wide selection of Premium Tea from Ronnedfeldt Germany, hot buttered scones, carrot cakes, sandwiches and macaroons.
The lemon meringue here is very notable with its crisp shortcrust pastry and fluffy meringue topping. The lemon custard filling was refreshingly sour and just the right bit size to enjoy for tea.
